1. What are Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Programmes?

Open and Distance Learning Prograames use ODL mode of providing flexible learning opportunities by overcoming separation of teacher and learner using a variety of media, including print, electronic, online, online and occasional interactive face-to-face meetings with the learners or Learner Support Services to deliver teaching-learning experiences, including practical or work experiences.
Online programmes use Online Mode as a means a mode of providing flexible learning opportunities by overcoming separation of teacher and learner using internet, e-Learning Materials and full-fledged programme delivery through the internet using technology assisted mechanism and resources.
You will find same programme such as BA, BCom, MCA and others in regular, ODL and Online mode in Kurukshetra University. ODL and Online mode allow you flexibility but demand self-discipline. Decide based on your situation.
Admissions at the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) are offered twice a year — in January and July sessions. All programmes are offered in July cycle and select programmes are offered in January cycle. Applications must be submitted online through the official CDOE portal within the announced deadlines.
Yes, it is available on website. It gives you an idea of tentative schedule of admissions, PCP and examinations.
Study material is dispatched via speed post to the student’s registered address. Learners may also collect it directly from the CDOE office. In addition, digital resources are often uploaded to the CDOE portal for easy access.
PCP is strongly recommended to clarify doubts and interact with faculty. 75% attendance in PCP sessions is mandatory and up to 20 % PCP can be conducted online mode. Under exceptional circumstances a waiver can be given. Online weekly classes are held for Online mode and your progress is monitored there.

Examination forms are submitted along with admission forms. The date sheets are published on the CDOE website, and exams are held at designated centers. Previous question papers are available in the CDOE library and website for practice. For online mode, exams are conducted in online mode and all information will be available through an mobile app based Learning Management System (LMS).
For result-related issues, students should send an email to CDOE. They can also register their grievance on examination portal.
Yes. CDOE offers fee concessions for certain categories such as SC/ST, differently-abled students, and university employees. Details are provided in the CDOE prospectus, and applications must be submitted with supporting documents. All government scholarships are available to CDOE learners. Students from across the country shall check National Scholarship Portal(NSP) for details.
While PCP sessions are the primary mode of interaction, wherein upto 20 % online classes are embedded. CDOE increasingly provides online lectures, webinars, and e-resources to support learners.
As per UGC guidelines, students may pursue one regular programme and one distance/online programme at the same time or any combination of ODL and Online programmes.
Students can log in to the CDOE student portal to check admission confirmation, exam form status, hall ticket availability, and results. Regular updates are available in their dashboard.
Students can register complaints through the CDOE grievance system through website, E-Samadhan grievance portal, contact the CDOE helpline, or reach out to the Anti-Ragging Cell for safety concerns. Dedicated staff ensure timely resolution.
All programs offered by CDOE are UGC-DEB approved, making them valid for government jobs, competitive exams, and further studies across India.
Students who discontinue can apply for re-admission within the permissible period, subject to university rules. They may need to pay re-admission fees and submit fresh forms.
While CDOE primarily focuses on academics, students can access Kurukshetra University’s central placement cell, which organizes job fairs, campus drives, and career counseling sessions.
International students may apply only in Online Programmes through its portal subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions.
If a student misses an exam due to valid reasons, they must apply for re-examination in the next cycle as a reappear case. University also arranges exams on demand as per its policy.
Fees can be paid online through the CDOE admission portal. No fee is accepted in any other mode.
Most programs are offered in English and Hindi both except for language programmes such as Hindi, Sanskrit and Panjabi where respective language will be used.
Yes, transfers are permitted under certain conditions, subject to approval by the university. Students must apply within the stipulated time frame.
Yes. Academic counseling is available during PCP sessions and through faculty interaction at the CDOE office. Online counseling sessions are also being conducted.
Some programmes require internal assignments or project work. These must be submitted as per schedule given in prospectus.
Duration varies: UG programs are typically 3 years, PG programs 2 years, and diplomas/certificates range from 6 months to 1 year.
Yes. Students can request changes (like address or contact number) by submitting a written application with proof to the CDOE office.
Late fees are accepted with an additional penalty as per university rules. Deadlines and penalties are announced in the prospectus.
Yes. Distance learners can access the sports, cultural, grievance cell, placement cell, and student welfare services offered by Kurukshetra University.
CDOE follows UGC-DEB guidelines, conducts regular PCP sessions, provides updated study material, and maintains NAAC A++ accreditation standards. It has an active Centre for Quality Assurance to maintain quality.
Yes, students may request a change of exam center before the generation of hall tickets. Applications must be submitted with valid reasons and approval from the university.
No migration certificate is required for a fresh candidate but students who have studies in Kurukshetra University earlier need to deposit migration certificate for restoration of old registration numbers.
Yes. After completing a program, students can apply for a migration certificate or transfer certificate through the examination branch by paying the prescribed fee. The complete system is online.
In case of loss, students can apply for duplicate or transcripts of mark sheets, or degree certificates by applying online to University examination portal and paying the required charges.
Generally, hostel facilities are reserved for regular students. However, distance learners attending PCP sessions are allowed temporary hostel accommodation through the CDOE.
Students dissatisfied with their results can apply for revaluation or rechecking within the stipulated time frame by paying the prescribed fee. This is done online through examination portal.
Yes. Certain lateral entry is allowed subject to conditions subject to eligibility criteria stipulated in the prospectus..
Yes. CDOE offers B.Ed. and other professional programs, but these require mandatory PCP attendance and adherence to NCTE/UGC guidelines.
Yes. Students receive a ID card upon admission confirmation only on request from CDOE.
CDOE encourages alumni to join the Kurukshetra University Alumni Association, participate in events, and contribute to mentoring current students. This can be done online.
After completing a program, students can apply for a provisional certificate to use until the final degree is issued. Applications are processed by the Examination Branch.
Semester Mark sheets are issued by the Examination Branch after results are declared. These will be visible to students in their dashboard. Hard copies can be collected from the CDOE office or CDOE will dispatch these through postal delivery.
Yes. CDOE provides a technical support helpline and email assistance for login problems, fee payment errors, or study material download issues.
Yes. Students who fail to complete a course within the maximum duration can apply for re-registration by paying the required fee and continuing their studies. This will be applicable to NEP based multiple entry-exit programmes only. For others, students have to take fresh admissions.
For professional programs like MBA, MCA, and B.Ed. and all NEP based programmes, internships or practical training may be required. CDOE guides students to affiliated institutions or industry partners. CDOE also offers online internship facilties.
3 year UG programs must be completed within 6 years (7 years for NEP based), 2 year PG programs within 4 years, and diplomas/certificates within 2 years, as per UGC-DEB norms. Extension in this duration can be allowed only with the approval of competent bodies of the university.
Yes. Students can request official transcripts from the Examination Branch, which are sealed and signed for submission to foreign institutions.
No. Ph.D. programs are not offered in distance mode. Research degrees must be pursued through the regular mode at Kurukshetra University.
